On 24th June Hat-Trick hosted a special event here at The Beacon bringing together projects from across the West End to celebrate the success of the NE Girls project so far.
Each NE Girls project had been working hard to come up with a project of their own with community benefit that they want to deliver and had submitted funding applications of up to £1000 to us in whatever form that suited their group best.
Planning and hosting the NE Girls Newcastle event was one of my highlights of the project since it started, bringing everyone involved in the project from board members, colleagues, other locally trusted organisations and most importantly all the girls who supported the project from the start together to be part of the decision making and conversations around each application was great to see. Having such diverse engagement in a room together where some participants have never met each other was great to see and shows how invested in the program everyone was.
Project Lead Annemarie Roberts said“ Finding out the barriers faced and how much the girls want to change not only their futures but their friends also, was eye opening and worth hearing, we can definitely have a positive impact in the future for more girls in similar situations”
We would like to thank Duncan O'Farrell & Shion Gosrani from our partners Newcastle City Council, Centre-West board members Marie Bartley & Lou Douglas, Patchwork Project, North Benwell Youth Project & Bahr Academy for attending and making this such an amazing night.
